Good to know
Should I hang my washing out today?+
That depends on four things — temperature, humidity, wind and the chance of rain — and they shift hour to hour, so yesterday’s answer is no guide to today’s. Rather than second-guess the sky, open Washcast: it reads all four for your exact location and gives you a straight yes-or-no, plus the best window to peg out.
Is today a good day to dry clothes outside?+
A good drying day means humidity below about 60%, a light breeze, temperatures over 10°C and no rain due for the next few hours. Washcast checks the live forecast against all of that and tells you whether today works — and if it doesn’t, when it will.
Is there an app that tells you when to hang your washing out?+
Yes — that is what Washcast is for. It turns the local weather into one clear clothes-drying verdict and a drying window for every fabric, then warns you before rain reaches the line, so you are not glued to a forecast all day.
When is the best weather to hang laundry outside?+
You want low humidity (below about 60%), a light breeze of 5–15 mph, temperatures over 10°C and no rain due for the next few hours. Washcast weighs all four together and hands you the exact window instead of the raw numbers.
Can drying outside really save me money?+
Yes. A tumble dryer is one of the thirstiest appliances in the house, so every load you dry on the line instead is money left in your pocket — and your clothes last longer without the heat. Washcast simply helps you catch more of the good days.
What conditions should I avoid for outdoor drying?+
Skip it when humidity climbs above 80%, during rain or storms, in a hard frost, or when the air is still and muggy. Washcast flags those days and points you to a better slot — or an indoor plan.
How does Washcast work out the drying times?+
It combines the live forecast — temperature, humidity, wind and sunshine — with the fabric type, since a thick towel holds far more water than a cotton tee. That gives you a realistic window per garment rather than one vague estimate.
Can I dry laundry outside in winter?+
Often, yes. A crisp, breezy, low-humidity winter day dries washing beautifully even when it is cold. Those are exactly the hidden good-drying days most people write off — and the ones Washcast is happiest to spot for you.
Do I need an account to use Washcast?+
No account and no sign-up — just set your location and you’re off. Washcast works anywhere in the world, and you can download it from the App Store.
Tomorrow's wash could dry itself.
